Grace Oil’s 7 luxurious ingredients

Camellia oilCamellia japonica and Camellia oleifera; A prized beauty ingredient used for centuries in Asia (think of the flawless skin of the Geisha women in Japan), Camellia oil is high in fatty acids, including oleic acid, which is a similar composition to sebum, our skin’s natural oil, and linoleic acid which provides rejuvenating properties. Camellia oil absorbs readily, is lightly moisturising, softens fine lines, helps maintain a healthy skin pH and doesn’t block pores. It also contains natural antioxidants, including vitamin C to assist with collagen regeneration and protection from environmental stressors.

Baobab Adansonia Digitata; The Baobab tree is native to the African continent where it is known as the ‘tree of life’ for its ability to store water in its substantial trunk and branches during the dry season. Oil from the seeds of this oddly shaped tree (it looks like its roots are up in the air) has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to heal wounds, skin infections, inflammation and as a moisturiser. Rich in fatty acids (including oleic and linoleic) that promote cell regeneration and moisturising qualities, Baobab oil provides antioxidant tocopherols (Vit E), and plant sterols to support elasticity and skin repair.

MaracujaPassiflora edulis; or passionfruit seed oil is an outstanding ingredient that contains fatty acids, vitamins and piceatannol – a powerful, replenishing antioxidant polyphenol that supports collagen production, hydration and is anti-photo-aging.

BorageBorago officinalis; the oil from borage seeds, also known as starflower, is a powerhouse of Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) an Omega-6 essential fatty acid. GLA is necessary for a healthy functioning skin barrier – the feature of our skin that acts as our first line of defense, or protection, against pollution, toxins and infections. Combined with other fatty acids and phytochemicals it contains, Borage seed oil, helps lock in moisture and is anti-inflammatory and calming for irritated skin.

PomegranatePunica granatum; also known as ‘the fruit of life’ or ‘nature’s power fruit’, the benefits of this divine oil include providing a rich source of carotenoids (vitamin A), vitamin E, antioxidants and fatty acids. This broad range of actives promotes natural collagen production, moisture retention, skin cell repair and an overall improvement in skin quality.

Raspberry seedRubus idaeus; in addition to containing the antioxidant Ellargic acid that helps with dark pigmentation on the face (melasma), Raspberry seed oil is high in vitamins A and E, both essential for the maintenance and repair of healthy skin cells. This lightweight oil encourages natural water retention in skin cells and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines. It also offers some protection from UV rays; however, we don’t recommend using Grace Oil as your only means of sunscreen.

BuritiMauritia flexuosa; ethically sourced from one of the Amazon’s largest trees, Buriti oil is renowned for its vibrant orange-red hue and high beta-carotene content. The body converts beta- carotene into vitamin A – an important nutrient for repairing damaged and prematurely aged skin. Buriti also has an impressive fatty acid profile making it an effective moisturising, protective and restorative ingredient.
